If I bought a semi-detached village house and then buy the house next door, do I need to keep them as 2 separate units, or can I join them to make 1 larger property? Each house is 1800sq ft.

you would always have to sell them as two properties in one go. secondly, if you join them up, you need to make sure that you do not touch a structural wall (or else get BD approval).

but apart from that, i dont see any issues in doing this

Thanks cookie, I wouldn't be removing walls but as there would be no kitchen in the 2nd house, it may make it tricky to sell separately. I may have to rethink this.
