I am a visitor to Hong Kong and not (yet) a resident, but I appreciate that many people here have sound financial advice to give, so I'm throwing out a line..

My capital investment is suffering at the moment due to the stock market decline- I am thinking of taking some money out and speculating here.

Rule of thumb - if it sounds too good to be true it is.

Don't forget that somebody is losing the money that is being made as a profit for somebody else.

The volatility in the markets can lead to decent short term gains but very sheers short term losses also.

You need to diversify your investments - if you are in direct equities i.e. shares, you need to keep a day by day, even minute by minute market watch - bearing in mind that trading fees eats away.
