I'm currently selling my flat and I need to know the legalites of having several agents market ones property. I know that officially, if you sign a sales agreement with an agent, then go next door and sign another, if one agent then sells the unit, you are obliged to pay both agents some commission. However, if you do not sign anyhting proir to the sale and one agent finds a buyer, are the other (unsuccesful) agents in a position ot ask for any commission?

I signed with about 20 agents... I only paid commission ot the one who actually sold/rented the flat.
Where have you been told that you would have to pay every agent a commission? I have never heard this.

Hi,
I am a property agent and I can guarantee you that you do NOT have to pay commission to more than one agent - but you must make sure that, when you sign the sales agreement, you sign it as a NON-exclusive agreement. If you sign an exclusive agreement, then you will have to pay both agents. This goes for leasing and sales.
