We are thinking of moving to Tung Chung with our one year old. Had a look at a few apartments around Tung Chung over the weekend including some in Skyview Crescent, LaRossa, Coastal and Carribean and we think TC Crescent is the most convenient in terms of proximity to MTR and shopping although the apartment (we saw) itself was not my first choice.
I preferred the apartments in CC and LaRossa but am alergic to dogs (and terrified of them as well) and hubby thinks LaRossa/Coastal Skyline would be an unsafe/long walk alone for me at night from the MTR station (I travel often and have weird hours).
Could anyone living in TC Crescent or anywhere else in Tung Chung please share their experiences with us. The good, bad and ugly.
Also any thoughts on the Sunshine International Kindergarden and medical care around TC would be much appreciated.
Thanks

We have lived in both Seaview Crescent and Coastal Skyline. In terms of safety, I have gone home ALONE during the wee hours of the morning and never felt unsafe. The walk to and from the MTR station to both buidlings is through Citygate which is well-lit 24/7, very convenient, and takes 5 minutes tops.
They are now constructing a path and providing an escalator to allow residents of CC to pass through the ground level of Coastal Skyline, so good news to those who are keen to walk to Citygate instead of take the bus.
True, TCC is nearest to the mall and the MTR station. The drawback is when it rains, you really need an umbrella to cross to the MTR station or Citygate, depending on which block you're at..and if you have a one-yr old, quite a hassle if you want to just go to Citygate. Whereas with SVC and CS, there's a covered walkway and you can do away without an umbie.

Thanks annebin. Do you still live in TC? How are you finding it there. I spoke to some people at work today (locals) and they are all saying it has really bad pollution and not the best place for a child. I thought it was ok - but admittedly have only been there twice.

Yes I still live in Tung Chung, and love it.
If you travel often, it makes sense to live here. The airport is a 10min ride away, $30-35 by cab. Or if you want to take the bus, it's 3.50, around 25mins.
Check out other places so you can compare better, or better yet, come to TC on a weekday. The flats are good value for money bec of the space, the view, and they are new. Plus your rent comes with a clubhouse with no additional cost, you have to pay only a small amount to use the facilities. It's a nice and peaceful community away from the maddening crowd.
There are other threads about TC which might help you decide better.
