Hello, I am looking for an office renovation contractor for a flat in the Mid-Levels. Can anyone make a recommendation? Thank you.

We used Wolgang Derler and his company WP Engineering Limited on our renovation project and it was an unmitigated nightmare! It was so bad that we had to literally get the whole project re done. They installed windows without safety and stay bars which resulted in one of the windows being ripped off it's hinges and falling to the ground. Luckily no one was hurt. The police are currently investigating WP Engineering. He also performed electrical works in our flat even though he is not an authorized electrical contractor with the EMSD. He did not provide the required WR1 form upon completion of the work despite repeated requests for it. The EMSD is currently investigating him and there is a hearing later in the year.

Tracy Russell. I am also one of the people who got wronged by Wolfgang Derler, the director of WP Engineering Ltd. Same story as R Smith. Full re-renovation necessary. Be wary of going with a contractor that you do not know personally and do not have direct recommendation. I used Hop Yuen company in Wanchai Road. Was very happy with them. They were able to re-instate my flat that was thoroughly damaged by Wolfgang and his crew of botchers. Windows and bathroom were leaking due to lack of waterproofing and poor workmanship. Also my windows had to be exchanged due to defective installation and unsafe design.

Also make sure you get a proper "bar diagramm" from the contractor so that you know when they want to finish which kind of work. Thus you can check the progress at any moment and can also link the payment to the progress.
