Besides filling in the holes, do the walls need to be painted?
Nothing out of the ordinary- I have made a few scuffs on the wall.

"of course need to be painted."
Comments like these are not exactly helpful. It really depends on your landlord. Back in the days I rented I never had to paint walls, usually the landlord would redecorate for new tenants. A few scuffs on the walls is neither here nor there. Some landlords are a pain and you may have to bite the bullet - locals would never paint the walls, ever.

After 3 years in our apartment we were forced to move because it had been sold. As we had scuffed the walls with furniture and the usual wear and tear we were prepared to wash down walls, plug any holes we made when hanging paintings but our local helper told us not to as the new owner would paint over it anyway.
Not being sure about this, we moved all our stuff out and asked the owner to check what she wanted done she said 'nothing, thank you, we will be painting before we move in".
So, perhaps check with your landlord before you do anything other than make sure the place is clean when you leave it.
