Property with Agent

I saw a property with an agent about 6 weeks ago and I signed the pink form. However the agent has not been able to get another viewing for me and my husband. Can I go with another agent to see the same property or will that mean that I have to pay double commission should I end up buying the place? thx!

s1, do you have a copy of the pink form? You should have one, and it should say how long the agreement lasts for. The Estate Agents Authority recommends that it should be no longer than 3 months, so that's the period most agents go for, but yours may have been for a shorter period.


Having said that, I can't think of any reason why the vendor would allow other agents to view the flat, but not allow your agent to take you back again. I suspect that you would have the same problem even if you did try another agent, because for some reason the vendor is not co-operating.


Mobile.Fidelity is quite right, as you have signed the pink form with the first agent, you are bound to pay them commission if you buy any property they show you, even if you subsequently buy it through another agent. Unless, of course, the period of your agreement has expired.

Sorry s1, I'm talking complete rubbish. It doesn't matter whether your agreement period has expired or not - you saw a property with the agent and signed the pink form, so you are committed to paying them commission if you buy that property.

ok, since i am stuck with her, i will contact the agent again and try to arrange another viewing. i also am doubting the honesty of this agent as there was this apartment which she told me was going for $$$, but I actually found the owner and the real asking price is about $250k less. is it normal they jack up the price so much and then make it appear she worked very hard to negotiate the price down for me.
