Park Island is the new development right beside the Tsing Yee Bridge going to the airport. It is accessible by ferry from Central (20 mins and $11.00)and also by MTR Tsing Yee (10 min bus ride.)

We've been living here for 2 years now. Time management isn't a problem at all for us. I work in Wanchai [45 minutes] and my wife works in Ap Lei Chau [75 minutes]. It's worth it because of the peace and quiet?

Nuttall - thinking of moving here?

It looks like a well connected place and we've been there a few times and it seems quite low key, peaceful. Are the buses to Tsing Yee busy in the morning....around 7:45 or so?

Having lived there for the past year of so, I must say that Park Island is an awesome place to live. It's actually a lot like Discovery Bay in a sense that it's very children-friendly and spacious, only that unlike DB, there aren't as many pregnant ladies on the PI. It's even better if you've got a pet - there are so many dog owners here that they've practically formed their own community. The island is clean, always safe (I could be coming home from Central at 4am and I'd be greeted by at least two security guards on my way to my building). I can't explain it - the island simply offers the kind of peace and quiet you can't find anywhere else, without being too far away from civilization.

Transportation's never an issue for me, either. Shuttle buses run on a very frequent basis during the day (from Tsing Yi), and you've got the ferry that takes you home from Central (20 mins) after midnight.

You'd love it here.

We're moving out after 2 years. My landlady wants to rent out the flat again for about $8500. You looking for furnished or no?

How big is your flat? We were thinking of buying there.

706 sq ft.

2 bedrooms. The window-sills give you a few feet extra space that makes it seem bigger than the standard HK 700sq footers.

You buying to live or to rent?

We are buying initially to rent. We are buying a 3 bdrm with a full sea view on Block one.

Block7, I might be interested to rent that apartment. More info? Which floor? view? Etc.

I viewed one apartment in Block 1, but they are bulding another highrise right beside it and I'm afraid it would be too noisy/dusty. That one would be $8000 fully furnished. Do you think I would be able to negotiate? I'm a NET teacher, willing to sign a 2-year lease.

Ours is on the 9th floor with full sea view. If you sit on our balcony, you can't see any other apts. In fact out of every window there is total sea view. That is why we bought the apt. You are correct in the noisy dept. whilst they are in the process of building but if you are working during the day...no problem. They are tight on noise restrictions...the workers cannot start before 9 and must finish by 6. We are asking 16,000/month for a 3 bdroom/2 bathroom/amahs quarters flat. I think the $8000 sounds like an awesome deal but it might be a smaller flat than ours (ours is a little over 1000 sq ft). Have a think, we do have a little room for neg. but truly we couldn't rent it for $8000. Cheers!

I highly recommend visiting Park Island first... Two years is a long time to commit to somewhere.. I found it to be very quiet.
