Verbal Agreement on renting a flat in Hong Kong

Hi all,


I am wondering that whether a verbal agreement constitutes a formal agreement of renting a place? I have agreed verbally to rent a place and the landlord and I have set a date this week to sign the contract. However, I just found somewhere cheaper but I am afraid that my prior verbal agreement is biding in Hong Kong. I prefer to save the extra dollars, but being sued in the future is definitely not worth it. Can someone please advise. thank you!!
