Compact Air Conditioners

Anyone have any experience with Brand and place of purchase of a compact Split cycle/Reverse cycle Air Conditioner. Renovating an apartment in a fairly new building and can't change the outside appearance of the building. So I need a brand of Aircon that fits in the hole that you see on most buildings made for a wall mounted type of Aircon.

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

You can go to chain stores like Fortress, Broadway or Gome to check out their window split type air cons. These are similiar to wall hung split aircons. You have an indoor uni indoor and the compressor is fitted to the opening in the window.

There are only 2 brands offering window split aircon. I can't recall whether it Panasonic or Rasonic plus one other manufacturer.

These window split types have a smaller compressor and I was told that they wouldn't make as much noise as a regular window unit.

If you live on HK island, best place to do your research is Times Square or Citiplaza where you'd find all these chain stores.

I think Hitachi also makes a compressor that fits the window hole.

Daikin make a split system that fits in the window box, unfortunately its not reverse cycle. I'm searching for one myself that is, but no luck so far..

Daikin has got some very good compact models. Not sure that they sell the reverse cycle ones here though.
