Who do I call about a leak?

I think my flat has a water leak. (I'm the owner)

Floorboards are warping and dis-colouring and the wall feels damp at the bottom.

Is this a job for handyman, plumber or specialist?

Thanks.

We had a similar problem. We hired a building surveyor to identify the source of the leak - sometimes it is not clear the source of the leak. As such, we decided to spend about HK$10K on the surveyor's report (with thermol testing and infra red testing) clearly showing the source of the problem and their recommendations on the repair works that are necessary to fix the problem.

it's water we are talking about here. offcourse it is best to get all the tests and reports done. but, in the event you've got a bursted pipe in some way, the problem can multiply buy the hour. and worst comes to worst, you may find yourself fixing the flat downstairs as well (especially if your living in an apartment).

inorder for the water to already be warping your floor boards, most like means the water has already saturated whatever underneath and nowhere to go.

if the problem worsens infront of your eyes, offcourse turn off the main water supply and call a contractor / plumber and FAST. good luck !!!

PS - if you don't know where the main water supply for the house is ..... ask your management guy.
