Hong Lok Yuen/Kowloon Tong

Hi can anyone tell me anything about these areas. They have been suggested by a couple of people because of the value for money aspect but need to know more. How far is the commute to central by public transport or shuttle bus? Is there a community feel or village atmosphere with shops, restaurants, cafes etc? Is it a suitable environment for children ie: playgrounds, nursery's, kindergartens, schools etc? Is there any nice beaches close by or outdoor areas?

Thanks so much,

BTS

I will just speak about Hong Lok Yuen.

You need 50 min to go to Tsui Sha Tsui. There is a private minubus (5.5kh$ per trip)inside HLY. It goes to Tai Wo KCr, then you can take the KCR.

HLY is a sort of village, with English, Dutch, Chinese and many other foreigners.

The Park'n shop is jsut at the entrance. There you can find many foreigner products.

There is also a country club, which is very nice; a laundry, a petrol station, a doctor, a backery, a pet shop, a hair dresser, a beauty center, a gardener.

A british primary school is also available inside the village. This school has planed to create a college. A meeting with mums (helpers) and infant is organized twice a week.

The village is closed, it means that you must show your resident card to enter. So it is really safe.

I said village, because there are only houses with gardens. It is quiet, very green.

From my window I can see the green hills all around.

For me it's really a nice place, because we fell like at home.
