property agent recommendations?

We are looking into purchasing either one larger apartment (meaning 900 - 1200 sq ft) or two smaller apartments side-by-side and merging the two together to create one large aparment. We want to do this in the Kennedy Town area as we currently live there and find it convenient/not too expensive.

We're looking for a good real estate agent to help us with this. So far we've contacted two local agencies - neither of whom have really listened to what we want. We also went into the office of one of the more well-known real estate agencies and were basically chased out by the agents who couldn't speak enough English to deal with us!

Does anyone have any experience with propery agents in the Western/Kennedy Town area that they could recommend?

Thanks.

There are listings here - and they are uptodate because we take em off if the agents leave them too long...

I would say try Midland Realty, I was browsing through their website and they got a thank you letter from an expat who purchased an unit in the Belcher's so I guess they are experienced in dealing with foreigners. Hopefully some of them can speak good English :)

Thanks for your replies so far. I'll try Mandy and Midland Realty (any one in particular there?).

Kittie - does Mandy work for any specific agency?

I don't know whether they deal with Kennedy Town but I used someone called Jamie Tong at On Tai property agents in Sheung Wan. You can contact her on 91050417. She was very good.

You should contact Amy 9609 1902, she specialises in Midlevels West, Kenndy Town and Pokfulam. She found this 1000 Sqft beautiful seaview apt for us few weeks ago, and it is nearby Kennedy town. She is patience, never pushy, speaks very good english and she always really listens to what we really want. Unlike most Agents who just try to show you everything they got on their books. I would recommend her to anyone. Goodluck in your Flat-hunting!

I, too live in kennedy Town. Are there any apartments in kennedy town with that size 900-1200 sq ft. We are looking for that size too but its hard to find. Does that size exist in KT? If you find any please share the info. except for Academic Terrace which is not so convenient or maybe Merton. Thanks

We have a place that we are renting right now that advertised itself (or the landlord advertised) as 900 sq feet - though I think it's actually 850. Anyway, I've seen a few others advertised at 1000 sq feet, but haven't managed to get an agent to take me into them! The difficulty finding such a large place is the reason we are thinking of trying to find two small apartments next to eachother and knocking down a wall or two. Thanks for all of the names for realtors - I'll definitely call them!

I heard quite differently. The removal of Abattoir has been confirmed, and since the area is zoned as GIC, that means it can only be for Government usuage such as Schools, Park, Swimming pool etc. You can check this actually under Govt web site Town planning. It is very unlikely that these will be built into high rise or for commercial purpose, unless some one apply to change the GIC Zoning, which so far nearly all such applications get turned down.

Infact there are now talks that it is very likely to be come the new Public Swimming Pool once they demolish the existing Kennedy Town Swimming Pool to make way for the MTR....those Gweilo who have bought MT Davis #33 are really the smart ones. Once they remove these 3 Chimneys...full sea view, a Swimming Pool and park there plus the MTR, can you imagine what the value be then?? If I have money I will buy there now!

To reply to the original message. I have an absolute great PROPERTY AGENT to recommend. Her name is: Mrs.Nadim Everts. She works for a company called: Professional Properties Co in SOHO (off the escalator). She is german american (the only agent/expat in the area that I actually know of).She speaks five languages fluently (which always helps). She is reliable, fast, very smart, super honest, patient etc and she does not just sell or rent a property to you unless she feels it is the right place for you. We have rented and bought numerous properties from her. We have nearly doubled our investments thanks to her hard work! She may be reached at: 9866-4454. She is by far the best agent I have ever dealt with!

She does not speak Cantonese. But is very familiar with the local market. She works with a group of agents that are local cantonese speakers. So she is the only western person in the that agency (she has created her own niche). Her clientele are primarily western people, but she does get chinese people as well. I guess it does not really matter as she knows the market VERY well. Just call her...she is extremely trustworthy, and helpful! My wife and I are very happy with her! Good luck!
