I am moving to HK permanently at the end of November with my husband.
We are going to stay in serviced apartments for the first few weeks but I am hoping to find a place for us to move into asap. We are looking to rent somewhere in Mid-levels west/east, Sai Ying Pun or Kennedy town - apparently these are all good areas to look.
Can anyone recommend any good agents or places I could start looking. Also I have been told that relocation agents can be really helpful.
I'd appreciate any help at all on this! Thanks

Wht type of apartment are you looking for and what budget do you have in mind?

I think around 40-47k per month - I have been warned that you do not get much space for the price in HK. I would love to have some outside space if possible. We are also flexible on the location.

Are you looking for a particularily expat-ty area of town or more space indoor/garden? There's always Discovery Bay..

Not sure my husband would be too keen taking the ferry everyday, we have visited Discovery Bay before.

How 'flexible' are you on the location then? :P

On the island, no ferry rides. Don't mind a bit of a drive

I suspect you will struggle to find genuine outdoor space in the areas of Hong Kong Island that you are looking at.
Somewhere like Belcher's may work: there are units around 1400 st ft (gross) which are in your price range and you get access to indoor and outdoor pools, a gym, tennis courts etc, supermarket in the development and the transport links are quite good (bus, mini-bus and taxi). MTR extension is being built but will take a while. It does not feel nearly as built up as some other developments. The negatives - the kitchens are quite small and parking your own car will be expensive.

P.S. On the island isn't really 'flexible' on location haha.
Belcher's is alright, I'm not too sure about the 'outdoor' part..
Bel Air could also be a possibility.. You might have to flex out your budget +10-15% for the 1400-1600sqft places but it could be what you're looking for.

Take a look at Braemar Hill.

40-47k is a big chunk. Hopefully this is being paid for by your company. If not, make sure this is at most 50% of your salary.

Lol@OffThePeak.
You turned this poor girl's chat about finding a house into a financial discussion about property companies in HK!
Interesting data points though. Loyd has been bigging up 0012 for a while, saying it's undervalued. I've always wondered why it's so undervalued comparatively to 0016 or 0001. It's P/E is by far the lowest as well..

Apologies - this info was posted in the wrong place, and so I will transfer it
The title threw me - I was looking for another thread.
(I will give her the name of an agent who I know who speaks good English, and may be able to help by PM)

haha not literally or financially 'poor'.. poor in the sense that she came here looking for help finding a place to live and instead got blasted with property development equities. :P

A good place! It's not easy finding suitable places to live.. in any price bracket.
I don't know who sh*t in your cornflakes anyway Softy. I was just joking around with OffThePeak taking the piss out of him. Not really sure what it has to do with you.

I deleted most of that - so not to worry.
Yes: 40-47k a month is plenty, and she can live the the Queen, if she is a little flexible on location. But many paying that much behind like Mid-Rons (whoops, I meant something else.)
If I was her, I would at least go and LOOK at Imperial Cullinan near Olympic station, which is one of the best new properties on the market. And she can negotiate a cheap rent new, since the keys were recently handed out, and there are many flats available now.
