I would like to send furniture from HK to our new holiday home in France. I am pursuing information about how much the moving companies would charge, but I'm also interested in seeing whether I can personally arrange for a container to be shipped with my contents. Price, not time, is the chief consideration.
Do you have advise about who to contact or how to go about arranging for the rental and transfer of a container from HK to France? If you have done this in the past, what recommendations or warnings can you offer?

I'm no expert in this but I'd be concerned about damages possibly occured during transportation. if packaging the furniture is done by rellocation company then they'd be liable for any damages. if you do the packaging, no party can be claimed in case of problems. Shipping co. would only pay very little / minimum for loss of cargo based on volume & not value of your furniture. that's my understanding !
