Not sure where you live.....but we used Hung Kee in Discovery Bay for for the general contracting work and they were amazing! For our Kitchen we used Mogen Kitchens in Wan Chai. They also did a fantastic job.
We brought both of these companies in to fix the mess Wolgang Derler and his company WP Engineering Limited had created when we first renovated our flats.
It was so bad that we had to literally get the whole project re done. They installed windows without safety and stay bars which resulted in one of the windows being ripped off it's hinges and falling to the ground. Luckily no one was hurt. He also performed electrical works in our flat even though he is not an authorized electrical contractor with the EMSD. He did not provide the required WR1 form upon completion of the work despite repeated requests for it. The EMSD is currently investigating him and there is a hearing later in the year.

I have a very reliable contractor with reasonable price as he is a local (called CK), his quotation will be less than a design firm a lot, also never mark up the price because you are the expatriate. He can speak fluent English and quotation is free of charge.

I am about to embark on a renovation. Contacted three contractors, including CK, as recommended by holiday2d. He was the most reponsive and offered the best quote. Also speaks English well (which is quite hard to find). Showed me some recent sample work which I was quite impressed with. Anyway, reno is starting soon. Can't provide a recommendation yet because only just starting, but will repost as it progresses and when it's done!

I bought a rather run down apartment in Kennedy Town in May and found an amazing contractor (Itay) to totally renovate it. He basically gutted the whole place and started all over again. What I liked about him was that he constantly thought out of the box about how to do a really good job, with good materials but at the lowest price.
He's foreign but grew up in Hong Kong - so he's a sort of expat-local - which made things really easy.
I have pics of the apartment if you'd like to see them - I would just post them here if I could ;)

Hi there, I live in Sheung Wan and recently got my bathroom renovated by a great contractor, I highly recommend him. He is from England and speaks great English. I literally ripped everything out of bathroom from floor to ceiling and Jamie fitted out an amazing new bathroom. I left for a work trip for 3 weeks and came back to a beautiful new bathroom. I just got some work done by Unitek (‪9491 2605‬) and I would recommend them. I was happy with the work and they weren't too expensive. Any problems or things I wasn't happy with they addressed quickly, and it's 3 British guys running it so no problems with speaking English. I would use them again.

You may have a look at this one, my home renovation done 2 months ago by them. www.comforthomerenovation.com. I think they are not good at fancy design, and can only provide basic renovation, but price are reasonable. they got a staff speak fluent english.

Anyway, I will advise you DONT use Corian. Its 10-year Guarantee is only a gimmick. If you got their warranty certificate, the 10-year guarantee only covers the Deficiency occured during the manufacturing process.
I have used many times before, but this time I was trapped. Only 3 months, it cracked, fixed, then cracked again.
Their exclusive agent SpeedTop (Ms. Lo) told me that I should not put anything on top of this (I just put a water jug and few glass). Corian is an art, only for viewing not for daily use!

An engineering contractor who created a Facebook page to libel a customer who criticized his company online was ordered to pay HK$1.1 million compensation yesterday.
Wolfgang Derler was also ordered to pay court costs of HK$360,000 by Deputy Judge John Saunders of the Court of First Instance after convicting him of libel.
