Hello,
I've been renting a flat for 4 years, with 2 years contracts.
I'm arriving at the end of the second contract and I don't want to renew the rent/contract.
The agency is asking me to send them a one month notice that I will leave the flat on the date of the end of the contract.
Is that normal ?
Why should I notify if the contract will end anyway on a given day (where of course I should be out of the flat)?
Could someone share her/his experience with contract ending in HK?
(I'm not even asking about seeing the deposit back... )
Thanks for your help,
Best regards,
Vince

its normal because the owner of the flat wants to advertise the flat early. Also they want to make sure that before you leave they can check all the damages you've done on the flat so they can charge you. the charge will be deducted from the deposit.

Thanks ofr your answer.
But this condition is not written in my contract.
However it's writting that the landlord has full power to make visits inside the flat 2 months before the end of the contract...
They still can check the damages before the end of the contract, without any letter aren't they ?

yes they do. some landlord are shit they complain a lot when your moving out and make a small damage costly because they hold your deposits. just clean up the place a bit when the landlord visit.
