Hi all, I'm relatively new to HKG and would like some procedural advice on renting direct. Because I don't have an ID card yet, I can't open a bank account...meaning anything I place a deposit on will be in cash.
1. Is cash an accepted and customary way of making the initial deposit and initial rent payment?
2. Aside from a contract, what else do I need to keep in mind when working with a local landlord.
3. Are there significant pitfalls from renting direct?
4. What is an appropriate level of deposit for a long term lease and what conditions/benefits should I ask for?
