Where on the Island should I buy?

I'm looking for something to live in for then 3-4 years but want it as an investment as well. Where is the best area / building to buy into? What's area is most likely to get the biggest rebound from this correction? I'm applying for a 95% mortgage and purchase price should be no more than HK$4 mil. I would love to have a 1 bedroom unit with a roof, terrace or balcony but I need the selling price to meet the bank valuation, which is rarely the case with those types of units. Location isn't too much of a concern as I can adapt to almost any area as long as the investment is solid and it's something I like. Wanchai is at the top of my list and so is the Caine road area.

Thanks for the help!

are you sure you can get 95% mortgage? not easy as you have to go through hkmc or standard chartered bank.

i think you should try units around soho area as now many landlords are willing to price it par to the bank valuation, but getting 95% is probably not possible for those old buildings.

if i were you i would seriously consider centrestage on 108 hollywood rd. that place is really happening now and the building looks good as well as the ambiance of the area. if you could get something with 2 bed rooms for little bit or at 4 million, you should take it.

if you like wanchai a lot, j residence is a good place. but definitely i would go for centrestage. hollywood rd central is central and wanchai will never be central. centrestage has got nice restaurants and cafe as well as a famous club. the atmosphere is just different.

good luck but first check if you really qualify for 95%. seriously.

Thanks guys but I have checked regarding the 95% mortgage. This post is regarding areas in HK to buy into, not weather you think I can get a 95% mortgage.

Thanks!
