Hi, we are seriously considering moving to Pok Fu Lam so we are close to some of the school catchment areas. However we have been disheartened to find that the rents are really extortionate, ranging from $35K+.
Maybe I am being naive, but does anyone know of where you can rent a reasonable sized apartment for a reasonable price?

What size? 916 sq feet at Pokfulam Terrace (new building) is about HKD18,000. 1,000 sq ft at Belchers (if you consider that Pokfulam) is about HKD25,000. For something larger, Bisney Terrace? For something larger and good value, the university rents out some of its quarters now - a google search would track down the website for it.

Hi, We are leaving at the end of this month/early March and currently live in a 2,440 sqft Government flat at Lower baguio Villas. We signed the lease last July and now have to find a new tenant to allow us to depart in the fixed term portion of the lease. Government have indicated that they will cancel our lease if we find another tenant to replace our existing lease. we currently pay approx HKD32k all inclusive for this four bedroom LARGE flat.
If you are interested in viewing the flat feel free to call me on 9022 0553 to discuss further.
p.s. It is the only large Government flat that is available.

Thank you all for your replies. We are not really after a large apartment and somewhere between 900 to 1200 sq feet is enough for us and thinking to spend about $20,000 a month.
I will look into all your suggestions of Pokfulam Terrace and Academic Terrace. Thank you so much!

Sorry, I suggested Pokfulam Terrace the other day.... but I had not realised at the time that there appears to be a karaoke complex/transvestite show in an adjacent commercial building (complete with loudspeakers outside advertising it in Mandarin). I have nothing against karaoke or transvestites or Mandarin, but maybe worth walking around on a Friday/Sat night to check if it's a suitable environment for your kids.

Dear Gazlin,
Is your place located in Hkg or Kowloon? My budget is HKG $ 15,000 per month.

Thank you all for your replies. Having thought long and hard about the high rents in the area, I think it would be more feasible for us to buy rather than renting. So a new search goes on!
Gazin, your rent is very attractive, however with a young daughter and a new baby on the way, I don't think I could do without a lift especially with pushchairs etc. Thank you for your suggestion.
