Great post Bear, I guess it is human nature to voice out/seek advice when you are uncertain or unhappy or seeking advice. I am with you though let`s here from the happy couples out there. I will chuck in my story for starters, used to work one month UK one month HK, already seperated but not interested in fighting off overly friendly young girls in Fenwicks/ Neptunes. Started running around Bowen Road area and over a few nights meet the same filipina and shared bench/excercise equipment a couple of times. 2 and 1/2 years later now living here and absolutely thirlled at the prospect of our upcoming marriage next summer. I piss her off by forgetting to ring when I am going to be late and some amazing culinary delight gets ruined, she pisses me off with her need to save everything because she can send it back home wher it will be used,our apartment looks like a shipping warehouse!!!!. She can go quiet for hours and I am supposed to figure out what I have done just by her expression. She hates shopping with me because I can never make up my mind. I love the fact she wants to go back to college to get her degree up dated and not just be a spoiled expat wife. She keeps my fit as we both still trail run, mountain bike and kayak. We are very happy and she certainly does not fall into the category of stupid, compliant and gold digging trophy girlfriend that so many of the western ladies on these forums seem to assume all asian girls must otherwise why would all as educated professional guys be with them and not with the fire breathing dragons I often meet through work. The attraction of my partner is the incredible warm nature, extremely pleasant disposition, strong family values and work ethic.

Ok Bear....Happy people.
Here goes:
I met my current boyfriend at CNY in 2004. He was meant to be a Holiday shag, but it has turned into an LDR from HK to Australia.
He smokes (I don't), I drink (He does not anymore), He's into VERY wierd indie/experimental music, I love Elton John, I like to travel, he's more the stay at home type.
Honestly...in so many ways, aside from missing him TERRIBLY, we get along WONDERFULLY and this is one of the best relationships I have ever had. He's caring, honest, trustworthy, brilliant, sarcastic, has a great sense of humour and blows my socks off in bed. We have great communication and astounding LDR trust.
I get to see him in 15 days and I am counting the seconds.
Yes, I am happy with this guy...even though he bought me burnable DVDs for my birthday. :)

Probably the reason is as someone pointed out above - happy stories are slightly boring! Here's mine - met a guy 7 years ago, seemed very phony and arrogant. Got to know him better over the next few months & discovered that he was probably the most genuine person I ever met (so much for first impressions, not to mention my character-judgement abilities!), have been happily married to him for 5 years.

I'm very happily going out with a Filipina who totally blows the image most of the women on this site seem to have of Asian women. 14 years ago her husband died, literally in her arms, from cancer. They had one son and because neither of them had worked for ages because of her husband's illness were in debt up to their eyeballs. She has worked with a dedication and focus that I've seldom seen, to not only dig her family out of debt but set them up in a successful mixed farming business which is growing year on year. She steadfastly refuses any and all direct financial help from me and still works 6 days a week so that they can buy more land to expand the business further. She is warm, unbelievably supportive, she has an incredible sense of humour and a great sense of fun, a piercing ability to see through BS, and my undying admiration for the quiet, non complaining way she has dealt with what life has handed her. I love going home to her every evening.

Seems a lot of you guys actually met some very nice Fillipino girls....that's actually quite interesting I think. Just before it got really ugly with my ex, I actually met a really sweet Fillipino girl at work. She's cute, if not stunning like some of the Chinese ice queens you see, but she is always smiling and can just make you feel warm and fuzzy. I often hang out with her after work; she's fun, smart and very independent.
Never had a Fillipino girlfriend before, but it seems many guys have been really lucky with them :)

Gold diggers/controlling women/cheating men/lazy partners come in all shapes, colours, races and sizes. I doubt there is ANY races that is exempt from this type of person in some way shape or form.
Congrats to the men on meeting wonderful women and having healthy relationships...regardless of their races or that of their partner. Really...does it matter? You are HAPPY with this person.

hey i gotta say i had a real emotional week this week when i realised not all men are like the pig i was with for a year and a half. The men ive met since getting here and ones online etc etc have treated me so well im beginning to see that i did just get a bad egg and men do actually like me and i am nice and pretty and loved by the opposite sex (well some of them i hope) Im not getting big headed and i know us girls often get attention cos we are needed in bed, but im now seeing that yeh, even if that all these blokes want from me, at least im worth the work! LOL....
