coupled getting married soon

i'm a US citizen, my fiance is a korean citizen, who's worked in the US for a few years. She just got a job in HK and we are planning to relocate together. Hopefully, I will get a job in HK before we move.

I'm wondering if we should get married in HK or get married in the US. Does it make a difference?

Since I'm a US citizen, will she have to become a citizen at some point? (she doesn't want to get a green card or become a US citizen).

Thanks everyone for your help!

My immediate thoughts, and I am no expert:

Get married in the US. If ever you have any legal procedures to go through, for example immigration if you do decide that is what you want (or god forbid divorce). It may be easier to understand the procedures involved (for you) without having to run around and deal with translators to pacify some bureaucrat.

That is why my Chinese wife and I got married in my home country.

Tigerbay, thanks for your reply...

i'm thinking about the worst case scenario too...for whatever reason we decide to divorce later, I'd like to register the marriage in the country with the most lenient rules...

let's say we get married in the US and get divorced in HK, which rules apply? what about the other way around...

Also, her HK visa will be sponsored by her job; if i don't find a job before i arrive at HK, would i have any problems if we are not already married?

maybe i should call a lawyer :)
