Hi, have read lots of strange and wonderful advice! me and my fiance are both UK citizens and we are legitimately getting married but one of us will need a dependent visa to work as can't get work visa. How much is needed in the bank and is 20k enough for the salary. Anything else we may need for evidence, we have photos from previous years and rental in our name.
Cheers, much appreciated!

As far as I am aware, you will not be able to get a dependent visa until you are legally married (someone please correct me if I am wrong and it is possible to apply prior to marriage?) Once you are married, and one of you is being sponsored for a work visa by your employer, then it is a simple process for the other to apply for a dependant visa (you will need your marriage certificate). Until you are married you will only be granted a visitor visa (allowing for a short stay) and will not be allowed to work.
I don't think there is any set amount of money that you need in the bank, as long as one of you has an employer who is sponsoring you for a work visa.
You ask is 20K is enough for a salary ... do you mean for the dependent salary, or the main earner? If it's the main earner salary, then I'm afraid that 20K won't afford you a particulary good living in HK. Yes, many locals do live on less than that, but when you factor in the high costs for apartment rental, gas, electricity, food, etc, you won't get much for 20K ....

As long as one of you has a job and a visa to go with it, the other can get a dependant visa AFTER you are married. Fiance's cannot get a dependant visa, there is no such thing here. Married, ok.

Well if neither of you have a work visa, neither of you can can get a dependent visa.
