OK ... so I normally don't approach guys because Im a wimp but it seems that men seem to like it ? So how does a shy(ish) person go about approaching a guy?

EW... that's actually a pretty difficult question.
In my opinion, if it's in a "bar" type environment, all it takes is a little eye contact, and a sweet, sincere smile (not a slutty, seductive one).
In a work/casual environment, you'd just have to go up to the guy, and, if it's someone you know pretty well, ask him to lunch. If it's not someone you know well, try the eye contact/sweet smile thing for a few weeks, then ask him for lunch.

According to my friend, his wife made little gestures to lure him into asking her out. Maybe you should do something like that. My only question is how to lay the baits which men will bite?

Theres no way I can meet someone at work. Really really doubt it.
I really dont feel like drinking till im wasted to approach a guy. That will just bring me further problems. But in all honesty I tend to meet guys in bars/clubs.
Contrary to what you all believe from that one little forum I am shy and it sounds stupid but when I see a cute guy I actually look away or look at the floor. Surprised that no one so far has said just go up and say hello? Does it not work?

While it's more difficult to find true love in a bar/pub, it is not unheard of.
A smile, a nice look and then strike up a conversation. Offer to buy him a drink, sure. Why not? We're equals, right? Why should the guy buy all the booze?
Don't hit on him if neither of you can stand up straight, please.
How would YOU like to be approached? Think about what sparks your interest and it might work on a guy. I tend to like talking to men who are witty and funny, so if he says something to make me laugh off the bat, I'll talk to him.

Seriously though just a friendly hi and mindless chit chat about the weather, how tough it is to get served quickly at the bar etc anything like that is an ice breaker, once you say something, hold your hand out and introduce yourself and you're in.
And yes guys do like it when you approach them, don't do it with locals though as they'll run a mile!
