Valentines Day Singles Party, thoughts!?

I think I need that.

I`d been single for a long time, coming 7 years. Most of my friends are in couples now...so i do not bother to call them until they call me. For the past few years, i did everything on my own, shopping, working, travelling, movies, eating...so on. I am so get used to be alone now i find pressure to ask someone to go out with me or facing friends.

When i hanged out with my friends, i feel lack of freedom and not get anything done. I feel i cannot have my own schedule. Somehow i really do not want to talk much on the phone or contact people. I even fed up chatting people from the net, meeting new friends, etc..

Giving up dating cos i am so fed up meeting different men and talking on the same topic/history over and over again, making dating arrangements, and wondering he will call me again. Eventhough i find someone i like, I find so scared to like cos i think i will love him too much or he does not love me at all. Everytime an SMS will make me worries...

I think i getting more and more like a `loner`..like a 70 year old stubborn widow.

I always try to go somewhere during valentine`s day....a few times i am in london, thailand, bali and so on...but this year i cannot go anywhere cos CNY just passed and a lot of work to do.

Somehow i wish i could go through a questionaire, or a machine, which can find me a company. If not, i think i prefer to be alone. Is that extreme?

funnybaby - how old are you?

no no... it's not extreme, there is many women feeling that way, usually it starts when their friends all turn into coupling and settling down while you keep meeting people younger than you etc who don't share where you are...

the best way is to develop your hobbies best with something like a group hobby, etc joining a sports club, tennis, basketball etc... when you are healthy, you feel great, plus it's a wonderful way to meet nice people

Funnybaby >> it seems to me you're giving up on yourself. Come on, girl ... get out there, loosen up, drop a lot of expectations (when it comes to the men you want to date) and pay attention to the guys who'll be checking you out via the sides of their eyes.

Remember, there is someone out there for all of us (am I kidding myself?... I bet NOT ... haha!! :D). Who cares about 40s when you can 'shake it' like 20s or younger? .... Yeah, some men do care, but do you have to care about what they care?

Loneliness can 'kill', no matter the number of activities one decides to fill it with. So, avoid it, girl. Live today happily like there's no tomorrow.

Oh i had a friend organise a cruise for singles but it turn out to have double the number ofr girls more than men....i dunno whether i should join.... ame stories...Are there really lack of single men or they just dont bother to come out anymore?

Shaq> i used to organise parties for a lot of people at work and even friends. It always turn out a lot of troubles and hicupps, so i rather join than organising, i do not have the energy anymore.

Fuuntbaby >> Got your point, but folks in this forum may not be troublesome nor cause hicupps. So, I'll encourage you to try.

Hmmm! I guess most guys have stopped going out so much to these parties because unmerit disappointments (am I speaking for myself??... :D). Most are fed up with the unrealistic standards most ladies set.

OOOOooooooooooooooooh!

Personally, I would come out for a drink with you all, but not on Valentines night. For one, it will be expensive (they just love to milk the lovers market), and for two, even if we are having a good time, there will be those moments for us when we look around at the couples brazanly rubbing their love for each other in our faces and that would lead to some of us realising the stark reality that we're having drinks with a load of other single people...

I don't need that on Valentines night...

Anyway, Franz Ferdinand is playing... loads of people might be going to that if they don't have a hot date already.

Me; I'll be happily tucked up with all 4 of my pets, watching movies and eating as much food as I want!

and saving money!!

Way to go, Lammasita!

I think so too. The exploitation by the various bars and clubs during V-times is too much.

I'll get my drinks (a lot of them) and snacks and tuck myself in the sofa (right i front of the TV). Damn, that could be fun.

Well guys...its nice to do something special and spend a bit if you are in a relationship because unless it is a new relationship things will settle down and you will be in a comfort zone...

..so once in a while ...be it v-day or some other day...its nice to go out and spend a bit and have fun with your partner...especially when its v-day since so many other people you know would be doing the same and sometimes you can do something as a group...

Therefore I dont see v-day as a day that single people "feel compelled" to celebrate...hey if they want to thats great...

...what ever makes you happy...but it is nothing to get disturbed about...you know ..thinking that you dont have someone to celebrate the day with...so on...actually v-day has spread to showing you care to other people as well...like your parents,siblings,,,friends...so people repeat after me " no pressure"..

Take care guys..

it has been changing into the Brand shopping discussion...Great, so there should be no sensitivity issue to get deleted! :)

Anyway, think LV is very well-made product but it gets over price these recent years and they had been over-rated by celebrities. I used to buy Gucci and Parda , but now cannot afford it anymore as they want to competite with the same line as with LV. 6000 HKD or over for a little bag, just a bit too much for me.

Just read through all your messages. I just recently broke up with by boyfriend whom I have spent 7 years with. I just wonder where I can go on this V day. I have loads of activities: tennis, yoga, marathon, fine dining, shopping hanging out with friends, movies..... but I still feel lonely and I agree that loneiness can kill.

Anyway, though quite expensive, any suggestion for activities?

Well i think spend a night at home may be an option.

I tried to go to my friend's single party but he say they have already too many girls so i am out of it!!

Well think going for a drink will not be expensive, only dinners will have extra charge, but I am not too keen to see people in pairs cuddling happily everywhere.

Good that is a tuesday , may be go for a cheap movie show??
