Speed Dating

Anyone has been to speed dating? I was asked to go to one by one of my friends to try because of my tight schedules, and i havn't been dating for quite a long time. She said i'm too involved with my work.

we had a little discussion on this over dinner. Her views are speed dating is great because you don't have to meet that person again if you don't want to, and you don't have to dread the whole meeting will go on if its awful. the dates are also selected based on your choice. I totally agree with her views.

My views are its kind of exciting meeting new people via this way, but after a while, i believe i get tired of repeating the same thing to different people all the time. My hobbies, my job, my lifestyle, etc etc..... but it is so true that i really have time to hang out to meet people, or join activities to know people.

so, anyone been in this situation before? or been to speed dating before? how about sharing your experience.

i might consider if the feedback is really positive.

i know someone organising speed dating. They have like 40 people, 20 girls and 20 guys. girls are usually over subscript and guys are usually friends of organisers and organisers themselves to fill up numbers. I think the famous one "Whirlwind" or something has finished cos i did not received any email from them.

I never been to one cos i think it does work as the original purpoese, people just making $$ at the end.

well i just have a look at the speeddate.com. They have some activities and woman are up to age 32??? I am out of it...long time.

oldMac> you sound cruel but it is really truth. Not only in speeddating activites, even in LFK, Wanchai...everywhere is full of single ladies and looking decent honest men(which extinct) and hope they will be the "lucky" one. There are always chances, but 1 out of 100 i think...There is always someone win Mark Six somehow...

there's nothing to lose for trying. i've been to a few myself. i liked the idea of it becoz i simply don't like going to "singles" event and everyone just cling to their own groupie instead of mingling. if you're a "vocal" person you might find yourself doing the "interviewing" but everything is an experience! keep an open mind, go n have fun, if nothing happens, so be it. i tell myself at least when i'm 70 n loosing teeth and STILL single, i have no regrets, at least i've tried it. of course unless you rather spend another night ALONE at home watching re-run of Friends.

Hmm....seems like the response here is not overwhelming. how's the pricing like? from some speed-dating websites, it seems quite costly, you have to sign up as a member, then sign up for those dating events again....

Go ahead and see if you like it. Often the burden is on the man's side.

I must say though, what can you really share in a mere 3 or 5 minute conversation? To me it's purely superficial and whether the guy/girl looks good or not.

come on fellas, it's not a career change / relocation or choosing what face you would like to have post plastic surgery. it's like there's a party you're invited to, simply ask yourself if you want to go or not. period.
