Been attached from 18 ~ 30 years old, met my dog (a stray) and then became single.... The past 6 years have the happiest in my life so far. No more boyfriend troubles and my love has been well appreciated by my doggie. So busy, taking him out and looking after him.

Before I met my husband, I thought I'd enjoy being single forever. Now that I'm married, I'm thinking I will enjoy being married forever.
Enjoy what you have. Right now. Whatever it is.

Berrypicker - I hope you find some peace in life, I have yet to see you post something truely happy or fun.
Sometimes misery breeds misery.

You don't sound wierd just rather sad. I know there are issues with depression but surely you must have moments of happiness.

what is it that you are sad about? Are you able to pinpoint the likely cause or issue?

BP> Well, i am unhappy as well, but we cannot be unahppy ALL the time right?
Set up something you can archieve by yourself, like a tour, some hobbies, or my be even to get a dog!
make yourself more occupy and then build some self esteem. I am depress as well, ,edications might help a bit, but remember: no one could really help you, only yourself. :))

Berrypicker - do you work? Do you have any close friends in HK?
Please support our advertisers:
ironic but yes, I find net surfing on bad days makes me depressed and obsessive as my mind runs around in loops.

BP - I thought you were prof diagnosed with depression, I guess not. Quite frankly, until you seek the opinion of a medical professional you are merely a whinger.
By that I mean, someone who complains and bemoans their life (or lack thereof). There actually may not be anything medically or mentally wrong with you, you may just be one of those people who is happiest when they are miserable.
Until you get a proper opinion about your situation, you are little more than a whinger.

well, it's not easy to be objective when you're doing the assessment on yourself. Why not just see the doctor for proper diagnosis.
When I was a child I'd pore through my Dad's numerous fortune-telling book and imagine that I'd discovered lines/symbols indicated on every other page. (particularly the ones that cast doom and gloom predictions).

BP - what will you do if you find out there is nothing wrong with you??? Will you snap out of this miserable cycle you have put yourself in?
Please support our advertisers:
Some people are just miserable for no other reason than they like the attention. Would that describe you?

BP.....Excuse me, people who enjoys being with their dog more than dating, does NOT mean they are bitter! I am a very optimistic person and enjoy my life very much. Seems that you're the bitter one.

hey, I dun have a dog and i dun have any men, and i am ok and happy. I do not want to have the dog cos i still want to enjoy my freedom when i need to go away, may be i am getting selfish and do not want to take too burden of others.
Knowway, actually dun agree women have dogs to replace men, there are lots of guys and couple have dogs too. Anything can screw you up if you let them, pets, relationship or even yourself.

Rouge - I think I am a bit dyselexic today (not much sleep), I read your comment about the 'emotional bolster' except to me it read 'emotional lobster' - that'll have me chortling for the rest of the day.
As for dogs, I have a fab Lab who I adore. She was a gift from an ex many years ago and I couldn't do without her. However, far from keeping me single, I've found she is the ideal man magnet. Let's be honest, what 'normal' red-blooded male doesn't like a wet nose and wagging tail?

Well my dog is a total tart, I have taught her well lol!

JC... 25 up from this one. My dog was a old stray that I picked up, he had fleas, worms, skin infections etc... NO way he is a security blanket, he's really moody & demanding. When we go walkies, I get old men asking me "what breed is that?" or girls screaming "keep that ugly thing away from me".

Just to clarify Meems' message, the bitter statement was made by Berrypickkkkkkkkerrrrrrrrrr 2 days ago. I was just reading this thread and think Berrypickkkkkkkkkkerrrrrrr is one of my old school friends. Everytime she came up to me, she said "I'm sad". Berrypickkkkkkkkkerrrrrrrrr, are you an only child?

BP has a way of making things all about her. This was originally a thread about being single but it has since been hijacked and become 'I'm depressed and nobody loves me' thread.

We will, don't worry! Don't be blasphemous! You just sound so miserable like my friend at school. I just want to let you know that it sometimes depends on yourself to make yourself happy. Not a relationship! You may have a relationship soon, but what if he doesn't work out?! Also, men like their women to be happy and upbeat! Not to talk about "me me me" "sad sad sad" all the time! Get a hobby, not a dog. Maybe you'll meet someone there!

BP you are a bore. I don't log on very often but it is all sounding a little repetative! Get help and spare us! Back to the orginal post: I have been single for quite a while now. My married friends envy my freedom and my spontaneous approach to life. I envy their relationships, the warmth and family life they have.

Have seen too many stories that married men cheat after marriage, some happened few years after marriage, some just happned one year after marriage! So what's the marriage for? What's the commitment for ? Stay in single, do what i like and want! Be with you when I like you and goodbye the day when i m fed up with! Easy and simple!
