Why are some people don't want to show/introduce their gf's/bf's to friends/collegues??

We have a friend who kept making appointments to introduce his gf to us but never happen. He (always) has excuses everytime the gf doesn't show up. It's annoying cos we are waiting for her. This was going on for months already. I just don't get it.

Not an imaginary gf. He's always proud of his gf and telling us too that his gf earned more than him.
