Chat noir > totally agreed. I understand I have "standards" on looking for a boyfriend. I am single for so long, I know my standards are different from others, so i am ok. I look around my friends they have boyfriends but it not up to my "standards" so i never envy them or unhappy about that. I am pretty happy to be single and and rather be single than stuck with someone i am not keen on.
I know i will regret it so i dun bother to go out with a "less" like.:)

I wouldn't say just purely based on angel smile, sounds a bit shallow.. I used to have high expectations too and scared all the admirers off. Have to admit I was the one who suffered eventually. The secret of a long and happy relationship/ marriage appears to be not to expect too much from it. Unless you have superior relationship skills, your hopes of cosy coupledom are likely to be dashed. Far better, to aim low to ensure you are not disappointed. Reckon the key to keeping that newlywed glow appears to be forgiveness and communication. Holding a more prosaic view of your loved one means you are less likely to be disappointed, and therefore more satisfied, with your relationship/ marriage.
Indeed positive outlooks were not a bad thing and I agree high expectations can act as motivation. However, if you've got high expectations but you don't have the relationship skills, you may need to work at them. Maintaining good relationships takes energy and activity. We should tend to select like-minded partners who they believe will be able to maintain a stable relationship rather than align with your own HIGH EXPECTATIONs.

Thank God people are lowering or thinking about lowering the standards now. Otherwise, how were we gonna get 'hook-up'? :D
Goodluck, ladies!!!!!!

You are pretty, well-educated and have an angel heart, but your stress and unhappiness are not earning you points.
Would you be attracted to a guy who is stressed and unhappy?
Go back to that list of positive traits that you are looking for in a guy and..
BE that kind of person.

Lulu >> to 'fit in' is to compromise and that's so cool. :D. If you're expecting to grab, I'm sure you're gonna smile soon.

Yeah, I guess she forgot that.
We shouldn't also forget that, nowadays, an appreciable number of ladies prefer (far) younger guys. Perhaps, GOGIS' friend is one of them.
Preference people, preference is the word :D. Or, is it still high standards!!!!!!!!!

not high or low..just someone you click!
I used to think "oh, he is not 100%, but should try to work out...and then after a while, turn out to be another jerk...and then i say "bye"...
and I never miss him, but will think "what a waste of time!"
so now? not bother.
