Personal struggle or just me?

Hi, met a guy , everything was perfect. "Isn't your religion going to be a problem?" I asked, he is a muslim. He assured me not, have experienced ramadan twice, he doesn't do it the whole month, he drinks alcohol, we have sex (not married and I am an atheist) Haven't seen him pray once, he eats non-halal food.He made to move to evolve I thought.

Now the last few months, he is accusing me of not respecting his religion. He says he loves me, wants to marry me but he can't because his religion won't allow it. Every week he freaks out at least once, afterwards he is sweet and lovely again.

He says that he is scared that he will not get accepted, while his family are very openminded, except his parents.

He would never marry a muslim, he says. But what is it then?

I think he is in a identity struggle, born muslim, raised muslim, but he isn't in real life. I tried to talk to him, but does it help?

What is it that he says that you're doing that shows a lack of respect for his faith?

What causes the freakouts?

hmmm, sad to see yr case, I don't thin he use religion as the excuse not to commit, but to some people, religion is very important, maybe u guys should have a deep talk

i believe it's only an excuse. missmiss i believe mentioned it clearly that he is a non-practicing muslim. i am a non-practicing christian but i know muslim and i have a lot of muslim friends. but as far as i know, it wasn't forbidden in their religion not to marry people from different beliefs or in your case, haven't got any.

sorry to bring up a sad possibilty missmiss, but perhaps he is preparing you to accept being his non-muslim girlfriend forever - i.e. he is never going to marry you - OR this is all a prelude to being dumped.

beginnings are always wonderful, but now perhaps the truth is emerging, and acceptance and conformity are more important to him than he initially let on.

there are many non-practising, "open-minded" muslims, catholics, and jews who nevertheless ultimately stick to marrying within their religion, even if it is the only concession they make to their religion.
