Well....Valentines Day is literally just around the corner....and I bet quite a few of you are exactly like me - don't know what we are going to get or do for our partners. So, if you are willing to participate, perhaps we could use this thread as an ideas sharing thread for Valentines Day. Include things like gift ideas, places to go, romantic gestures, things that have worked for you in the past (or even things that havnt so we know to steer clear of them!!).
Alright all.....share away!!!!

I have found that giving flowers to my lady the DAY BEFORE St. Valentine's Day is the best. My rationale: on the 14th, every lady will get something and she will be one in a million. But, the day before... she is ONE... and everyone will look at her.
I do want to say, and this is just a word to the ladies, most men hate to give flowers. They are a waste of money because they die. So, if you do get flowers, remember that he may be willingly throwing away money because he loves you. If you would prefer anything else, tell him.

What do we have to wait the Valentine's day to send flowers or buy a gift to the beloved one ?
If only we can treasure everyday.... !

Actually, St. Valentine was executed for marrying people against the emperor's order.
I do agree that gifts are not necessary. That is why most men do not get anything on Father's Day but we do get to take the family out and pay for it. But, if you do not give the average woman something on every holiday, there is heck to pay - for a long time.
I usually go the route of sweet notes and gifts on regular days.... hence my post about giving before VD.... ooopppps Valentine's Day.

Yep, great idea JC!!!
Nothing like a romantic, candle-light dinner at home! With music to slow dance to and good bottle of red!

Flowers are a waste of money.
But, when I was married, when we wer dating, I gave her one rose and a dozen carnations.... and each time she got flowers (never on the day everyone else got them) she got a dozen carnations and an additional rose.
Before I found out about her affair and bigamy, I had given her 16 roses and a dozen carnations for her birthday..... a week after VD.

Last year I had a man in my life who was madly in love with me and he came home a few days before Valentine's Day with a very good bottle of wine and the most beautiful ''I love you'' card, inside which he wrote something to the effect of ''there needn't be an occasion to say I love you...''.
It was so very romantic of him to do that... we celebrated our love on that day cosily at home having wine, cooking together and loving eachother.
He took me out for a very romantic meal on the 14th too....
Sadly, this year, the days before 14th and that day will be spent with myself....

How romantic!!!!
The most romantic thing anyone has ever done for me is when I was in a long distance relationship a few years ago, and he flew to the city I was in to see me and surprised me. This was not Valentines day, it was my bday, but it was still great!
