This is the 1st year I don't want to visit to flower market after a big dinner with the family. Maybe I'm scared to the crowded flower markets!! Or indeed there is nothing worth I do this year!!

well, I gave up visitng the flower market and this is the very first year i did not go to flower market or travelling, stay alone at my flat with my dog, is fine...too many people out there, cannot really look at stuff!

I just stayed at home after dinners with a friend and watch a movie. Sometime watching peoples visited the flower market from my building. They are so busy and nonstop for the whole night. Felt very tired just seeing a lot of peoples, so give up not to go to flower market.

Woow Ping, what do u do? I remember few years ago I had worked overnight until the 1st day of certain year and then I went to flower market almost 5:00am, there were a lot of broken stuffs on the ground so I got nothing..

I work in retail. My co-workers have got used to it. But I think people should not have to be "forced" to work in this kind of occassion. Maybe retail companies should give their employees a choice. If they want to work, they work. Otherwise, they do not. They then decide whether they "can" open their stores during this kind of big holidays or not.
oh, btw, I got a $20 bonus + a $20 red pocket for going to work today. wow.

There are a lot of changes in these few years! In the past most of shops were closed in first few days of Chinese new year. So we always have to get all groceries, instant noodles,...ahead. And surcharge was expected to the restaurants if they would open during the holiday...
Now we don't need to care about that, many shops are still open and would keep the normal prices!!

oh...I've just relocated to Shanghai from HK, first time to have CNY in China; first time alone...stayed at home with my 2 cats, relocated here with me. New Year eve dinner alone...
