If you move to Bangkok, under what circumstances will you be going there? As an expatriate, with all the benefits? Or at some lesser status?
The social climate will depend a lot on the answer to the first question about circumstances. Also, what are your family circumstances? How old are you?
As for the question about 2 parent families, again, which families are you talking about? Westerners on an expatriate package? Middle-class Thais? The whole population? Nobody would know the answer to this question, I suspect.
Bangkok is not as safe as, say, Hong Kong. There are a lot of traffic accidents and road deaths, in particular. However, if you are there as an expatriate, have good medical and hospital cover, look after yourself and do not go to strange places and do silly things, and in particular do not drink too much, then it is a pretty safe place.

If you go to live there on full expatriate packages with a reputable employer, you shoud have no problems.
Obviously you should have some inter-cultural training, especially as you will probably want to employ some local staff.
If the employment opportunity is good, and if the package is good, I would say that living in BKK for a few years is a good thing to do. It is not Hong Kong, it has some advantages and disadvantages, but on the whole I believe that you can have a good life there, if the basic issues of the job and the package are okay.
