American Traveling in China

ORIGINAL POST

I am a American Businessman who travels to China every 3-4 months. Due to my excess traveling, I don't have time to go to bars and clubs. I usually order room service and eat dinner in my hotel suite. I feel that if women discover how successful I am, they will only want me for my money. How can I tell if these women are sincere or not.

Kind of sad you have to miss out so much when you are travelling.

What are you looking for if you seek 'sincerity'?

If you are only here every 3-4 months, are really looking for a long term relationship?

If no then go out and play, but don't get caught up into anything.

If yes then from my limited experience I can say the following.

The Chinese do seem to be more pragmatic in their relationships. And this can be offputting. It does not mean they are any less commited or genuine.

Finding people through your business circle is one possibilty.

I used to meet lots of succesful, attractive, and smart, single business women.

Many of them over 30, because they concentrated on career.

This is a bit of a generalisation but, it is harder for a succesful Chinese business woman to find a husband. Many locals (or their mother's) don't want to marry a woman over 25. Many would find it difficult if thier wife earned more, or is more succeful than they are.

I have found the Chinese to be enthusiastic matchmakers. If you are serious about a long term relationship with prospects of marriage, then plug into your network. If you are not looking for a serious relationship then don't. If you are going to plug in, use female associates to do this for you. They will be a bit more selective I think.

Actually I would love to meet someone to spend time with when I travel. Who knows, It may bloom into a promising relationship. I would like to settledown soon. Let's face it, money is nothing unless you have someone to share it with and enjoy life

Then if the opportunity presents itself, say the same thing to one of your associates.

Something like "I would love to meet someone to spend time with when I am here, but it is so hard to meet people. Who knows, It may bloom into a promising relationship."

Don't be afraid to ask if they know anybody. But don't make it sound like you are hitting on them.

Because of the importance of relationships, your associates won't want to introduce somebody unsuitable. My wife is Chinese and she is always trying to marry off her 'unlucky' single friends with my single friends.
