I married Chinese National 2006 and my wife now has permanent resident card of Canada.

When we return each year i need to buy visa but they only give me 2 or 3 months.

Is there a special visa for husbands of chinese nationals? how can i apply?

Your wife is trying to become ex-Chinese so she is obviously no longer a resident of China and therefore you are a visitor as opposed to being a Permanent Resident.

If, however, she resides in China full-time she will have that Residence Book and I seem to remember a visit to the provincial capitals immigration section (married to foreigner) might help.

The Chinese have an unofficial overstay policy of no great hassle up to a week overstay - just say transportation problems.

Remember that Canada counts the number of days a P.R. is absent from Canada and this will delay her citizenship process.

(Here in VN a foreigner married to a VN citizen gets a special visa valid for 5 years allowing no charge entry for periods of 90 days)

Thanks so much

My wife will not try to get a Canadian Passport - she is content with PR card so she can keep her Chinese passport. Yes we are aware that she needs to be in Canada 2 of the first 5 years to get permanent status.

I was just tryiing to get a longer China visa - for my trips to China rather than the 2 month thing they give everyone.

Extending visas should be no problem, if you are working here. Get a job teaching English, usually only 16 hours per week. Your employer can apply for a 'z' visa for you. These are usually 6 or 12 months.

Most contracts allow you to quit with one months notice. Returning to Cananda would be a good justification. If they are happy with you, then your employer will probably re-emply you on your return to PRC.

There is. But you have to be resident for 5 years yourself first.

I think this is 5 calandar years with at least 9 months of each year spent in China. But I am not 100% sure.

The local imigration office will be able to help.

You will also need a certificate of no criminal record from your local police back home.
