I'm getting married October 10th of this year (we're a local/expat couple) and looking for a venue suitable for about 100 pax for Chinese style banquet with western influence. Any decent club venues? Do I have to be a member?

Thanks.

I went to a wedding at the restaurant at the Race Track and was very impressed with the service, and there's a lovely large balcony that they decorated nicely with candles everywhere. Beautiful spot.

Could also consider on top of the floating Jumbo Restaurant in Aberdeen - been to a banquet there and that's a unique spot.

I believe the restaurant we went to at Happy Valley was Stablebend...

My advise to you is that you should go looking for a venue real quick! 10 October 2010 is an extremely popular date to get married among the Chinese. A lot of thing does get fully booked already. Some even started to prepare for their wedding as early as two years ago!

For our wedding we checked out all the Hotels in Central and although good we were very happy with the venue we went for in the end.

My advice is the best location for your banquet is the Verandah at the Repulse Bay Hotel.

We chose to have the banquet indoors and we provided our own live band for a lively after dinner dance session.

They have a tent if you prefer outdoor dining (i recommend cool indoors) cocktails on the lawn at the front for starters is a nice idea, while guests arrive.

Our wedding there was perfect, we chose the mixed eastern and western buffet + a few curry options. Buffet style is what everyone prefers in HK.

The Verandah is run by the Peninsula Hotel so you can expect a legendary buffet and great staff. Our guests still remember the great food.

They used to offer a photographer package as well which i recommend you take as the photographer is a professional, a bad photographer can ruin your day.

One more thing any photos you or your guests take at this venue will look good because the Verandah background is classic old Hong Kong and is photogenic from all angles.

Make sure you get a good live band for your night you won't regret it !!

why not try the new Marquee at the USRC club , I hear its open for public use, no need to be a member, its in the middle of kowloon but in a completely green setting surrounded by big banyan trees etc
