Child Maintenance and Support

Can anyone help with advice on child support requirements in Hong Kong please?

Well, I dunno if there is a set amount. I know people getting close to nothing and I know others getting ridiculous amounts (like 50K a month, just for child support!) So yeah, it depends on how much you make, how much you think you are willing to pay out to your ex to look after the kid...and of course, how much your ex is gonna try to ask you for.


I would say, if you are a decent man, who understands that these things cost money and you know what it costs to feed, clothe, educate and shelter your kid...you'll know whats fair. But obviously, talk to a lawyer about it to see you arent agreeing to something you will regret later.


There are families, entire families, who survive on one persons income of about 20K, so who is to say that it costs pennies to bring up a kid? There are others who live on millions...so its all relative!
