So the answer is : (1) some don't cheat (2) those who do have reasons such as broken homes(Clinton), narcissism, psychopathy (Caligula).
I'd be more interested to know women who like to claim the moral high ground, and would never do anything on the first date, can suddenly offer themselves to powerful men with no strings attached - Is there a "mistress gene"?

Males do what they can get away with. This is why school discipline and educational standards have fallen dramatically in the UK. When I was a kid, maybe 2 boys in our class of 30 would dare cause trouble. Now, it's the minority who won't cause trouble. Really is that simple.

Average men do not become powerful men. In general the man must have a combination of intelligence, charm, manipulative savy and risk taking to become that powerful man.
Buoyed by past success, he uses these same strengths to cheat.

I think there is a bit of the megalomaniac (in some a lot) in people who achieve success... that could also contribute to their selfish behaviour...

Yes, the megalomaniac who goes thru life "using" people... sex is just one aspect of it.

well put Captin'
so does the guy know that he is using people? I think yes. Does he know that we know? I think no.

I don't think that writing an E on your forehead is a very accurate way of measuring narcissism but interesting article all the same. Maybe the guys with the biggest egos used their pocket mirrors to help write their Es properly lol.
