Need some advice.
"a friend of mine" got married towards the end of last year and ever since he and his wife have not been happy in the relationship.
They have both agreed that it has not worked out and both agreed that the best thing to do is to end the marriage.
They have no kids and no property. What is the best way to do it and the fastest and cheapest?
The one sticking point is that he is on a dependant visa and if they divorce/anull does that mean he cannot work in HK?
Thanks

Technically he would have to inform the immigration department of his "changed status" and they would cancel his visa.
Also, was he married in HK? If so... well, the department that oversees marriages and divorce is actually the immigration department. I don't think it takes much for them to work it out.

Well, technically, in HK you need to be separated for a year or two before getting a divorce, so up until you divorce, you do not necessarily have to inform the immigration department nor worry of your change in visa status...BUT, after that, you will need to worry about it.
Unlikely you can get your marriage annulled here unless you two can go all innocent and prove you didn't bump uglies all that time you were married. Its not that simple.

Bump uglies? She is under the impression that you can just anull it and everything will be forgotten. I just wanted to know what would be the easiest option to take

Ok, a quick search on how to go about annulling (global search) came up with this.
So....I think if you two want to annul the marriage then it might be best to check the "requirements" for falling into that category for Hong Kong. Either you can claim you were duped or she can...*shrug* but in my eyes I thought the only way you could get an annulment was if you didn't do the deed...or lie about never having done it...so yeah, good luck! Although, knowing HK, its unlikely you can just go about annuling it after having been married and living together for over half a year or so.
