Male BBC marrying female HK local

You two will have to live in the UK for 5 years before you can apply for a UK passport for your wife. Not sure about the passport for any child born to you. My son was born here and was able to get one because I am British born and bred.

On the other hand my friend who was born here to one British parent had a bit of trouble getting a passport. Eventually she did. Good luck....

The child will be British if you were born there.

I would think if you had a brit passport then your child is entitled to one too.

She'll have to go back to the UK and live over there for 5 years.

Or

She could get the British passport through you I guess? (Check with the British embassy).

Or

If she was born at a certain period, when HK was still under British rule, then she could perhaps qualify for one.

Make sure you verify my claims, I am not sure whether I am telling u the right thing or not. I don't know much about it, but thought this could eventually guide u... a little.

Call the embassy anyway, they'll tell u all there's to know about it.

Best of luck!

The British Embassy is just located across the road of the Hong Kong high court/Conrad JW Hotel.

Your wife definitely needs to stay in UK for at least 3 years, even giving birth to the child who is gonna be British national as you are a BBC. The rules are changing, they want to close the doors to ppl who they don't want/need.
