I live in USA. I want to find a friend in China, but I only have their English name and Passport #. Do you guys have any recommendations on how to go about locating them? I am mainly trying to get their email address so I can reconnect with them.
A friend said I should hire a private detective in HK, but I am afraid of getting scammed. I also heard the police are friendly and will help foreigners locate people in HK. Is this true?

Do you know if your friend is currently living in Hong Kong or China? cuz.. I also wanted to find someone in China, but it seems like it's impossible to find someone just through internet. I tried google, yahoo, and even baidu (Chinese search engine) but I couldn't find her lol.. especially if you only got his/her English name.. (cuz Chinese people don't use english name for their official use,, right?) Don't know much about private detective but it seems like the only option...?
