Hi, my Chinese girlfriend of 6 months refuses to take the pill. We have had small conversations / discussions about this quite a few times, she says she asked a pharmacist one day and they said if you take the pill you will get fat. Now that's not the encouragement I would have liked the pharmacist to give her.
I know she is disease free because not so long ago her university forced them all to have a lots of tests, I am also free.
I hate using the condom, sex isn't the best in our relationship, don't get me wrong its a little good, but not great, and I think that using if she took the pill then it would add a lot of spice and romance into our sex life.
Also, in England, loads and loads of young girls take the pill, no questions.
What to do... thanks

Especially because if you take any more knocks to the head you might need help getting dressed in the morning.
What I wanted was constructive replys, like the first too. Thanks Oyster and Annebin. Does the pill really make you gain that much wait? Wow. I wasn't sure if there pharmacist was correct or not, or maybe in the UK we have different kinds of the Pill which don't induce wait gain to this extent. Anybody clarify?
She is very slim, but I understand that some girls can get very selfconcious about their figure and I don't want to subject her to having to gain 3-5 kilo's if this will make her feel bad.
What other options could I take? I was thinking about that new Nanomorphic cryo whatever thing but it's a little expensive so I will have to wait until pay day to buy a few of them.
Have any girls here experienced bad side-effects when taking the pill?

mark,just tell your girlfriend, this is absolutely non sense on the` get fat theory` on taking the pill. The main thing is just to consult the doctor before to take the right pill. but before she go to the doctors, she need to agree to go, if not, you have to think whether you want to go out with her. Sex is not everything in the relationship but its a great part of it. If you can prepare the `not so nice` sex you can keep going out with her, but if not , talk to her seriously about that and say you might need a change. i think everyone need to think about seriously before commit on a relationship, now may be you think its alright, but later it might be not, it will be not fair on her.
i`d been on the pill for over 18 years. I am ok, I do not have any boyfriend at the moment, but i still on the pill. I take the pill, as it helps my peroid gone less, i used to bleed too much and fainted in the street and could not attend school or work. I think by taking the pill is good for me. I am prepare not to have any baby as well, so i will continue to take the pll. I check regularly at the doctor and i am totally fine. I am not fat and actually the doctor also told me it is a myth that pills make you fat. Women get fat because they feel care-feel after taking the pill so they eat more!!
Sometimes women just like to make believe what they like to, one of my friends also do not want to take the pill and she always ask her boyfriend to use condom, and her boyfriend use that, i am not sure whether he is happy, but some people do.
but most of my friends, if they are in a steady relationship, they will not use condom, they take pill or use other stuff. they do not like it too.
so think and talk.

Mark: Tis true that for SOME women, hormonal birth control COULD make them gain weight. 3 to 5 kgs is not the much.
Send her to the family planning clinic and have her talk to someone about choices. I just got an IUD from them and it's good for 5 years. Yes, weight gain is POSSIBLE...but not everyone will be affected.
Low-dose pills make make the POSSIBLE side-effects minimal. Talk to a doc.

I did have IUD before, but it make me bleed badly, so at the end it just flush out. I think the IUD has improve a lot now. Even the pills, there are many different type for different kind of women's body.

Also you should change the title to "I am too lazy and selfish to put on a condom". what kind of bullsh*t is this saying 'if she took the pill then it would add a lot of spice and romance into our sex life.' Do you know that 1)there is a higher chance of women who takes pills forever will not conceive?? And that women who has been on pills will also have 2) a very high chance of getting pregnant when she forgets to take her pills??
You might be confuse about what I am trying to say. Basically, there are 2 type of common effects on women who are on pills. I have friends who got unwanted pregnancy when they were on pills! and also friends who wanted so badly to have a child now, was unable to conceive due to the pills they have been taking for years.
If you think that sex with and without condom feels so different that it affect your sex life, I suggest you get use to it or stop dating asian women. The ratio of asian women not taking pills is much higher. Thats the way it is. there is no explaination for it. is the same as why 'white' women put on weight faster and aged faster. We don't really know why and we don't question GOD.

Juz, i do not think there is any scientific prove that pills gain weight or they age faster and things like that. I am laughing to look at all this writings. and i know many aisan girls take pills, and some dont, just because they believe all the bullsh*t.
I am the one who is taking a pill, and so as my other friends. We are healthy, not fat and i am nearly forty now but i look like late 20's. moreover, pills can help balance homones so it might also stop pimples.
Taking the pill is one thing. What Mark claimed "more spice in sex" is another thing.
You can say Mark is selfish but i think Mark's girlfriend is selfish by saying that she do not want to take the pill as it gains weight, without even any prove, feeble excuse. There is no proven facts on that and I am regularly consult the doctors on that.

moreover, those talkings regarding forgot to take the pill and got pregnant or takien the pill for long time so it is hard to get pregnant is also very untruth. I have friends that can get pregnant after stop having the pill! Moreover, for guidance of taking the pill is, once you forgot to take one in 24 hours or you puke during the time, you need to use condom for the next 2 weeks, and pill in effect could provide 99.9% contrceptive reliability, which is the most compare to the other contraceptive devices.

The pill is not the healthiest way to go.Apart form the resons listed above getting onto the pill also messes with the female hormones.
Have you asked your gf if she has a medical reson wh she doesnt want to get onto the pill ie she may be pcos, or some thing.
Realise that not being in control of an issue as pregnancy must be weighing heavy on your Gf's mind as well , she must be aware of the risk she is under. both of you

Think this is more like a women's forum rather than a discussion forum and they like screaming as well.
Anything can be written at the internet and moreover, there are many factors contributing on people gaining weight, pill cannot the only and direct fact.
I just speaking as a "normal" person who IS taking the pill and talk to different doctors related on "Pills" as well. Do you think it sound stupid to take pills directly related on gaining weight and many women in all over the world should be gaining weight? My friends are on pills as in different aspect, some have homones problemlet to skin problem, some want contraceptive...they all taking different brands and grades from of pills as instruct by their doctors. "None" of them are gaining wieght! many very slim as well. This is just so childish ...

I think the best place to start would be to go and see a GP or visit a family planning clinic together. Educate yourselves on the various options and see if there isn't something out there that will suit both you and your girlfriend. Perhaps you could both take the various tests for STD's to know that you are both serious about each others health and well being.

heeeey......a girl point of view...
The main benefit of birth control pills is that they are effective in preventing pregnancy but do not interrupt sexual intercourse. Also, when one uses birth control pills, the periods become regular, lighter, and less painful. …im taking a pill that makes my skin and hair more beautiful…maybe i could gain some kilos…but beside the fact to be so RELAX having sex and not thinking about get pregnant to me its more important than those 2 kilos I gain specially because also your body shape gets more curve…..and OF COURSE If she is not happy with the birth control pills that she is taking she certainly can have a different type. There are many types of pills and they affect people differently. Some you will like and some you won't. She may have to try a few different types before she find the type that works best for her.
