do couples have to buy an expensive present at their marriage anniversaries? spouse asking for another gold bracelet to the one that was purchased last year. Since my accounts haven't got much savings, having bought her gifts, going on two holidays abroad last year, l suggested we go for a nice meal. But she would not accept that. suggestions? and surely not every couple buys an expensive gift?

I like the idea of the nice dinner over the expensive gift ... in light of the big overseas holidays...
Always useful to introduce the overseas holidays beforehand as gifts.... if you run into opposition to that concept then you could always say well... we can't afford both.... choose....
