Any romantic scene in movies that make you most impress or even make you cry?
I just read the women only forum and someone mentioned that in "love actually" the guy really fancy Kiera Knightley but he never told her, eventhough she married his best friend. Then before Christmas he knocked on her door and played the Xmas carols and show her how much he loves her through the cards, that is touching, so sweet...but does that exist?

the film "unbearable lightness of being". I think when i watched it i do not understand men that well, now i find it was such a classics.
A man treat sex like an entertainment, but when he loves the woman so much that he would flee back with her even to bear the risk of being killed... he got killed at the end.

I will cry at the drop of a hat! Any movie that has kids with a terminal illness, a partner dying, a faithful dog dying - I will cry.
I once blubbed my eyes out at a movie where a blind person had corrective surgery and had to send her 'Seeing Eye' Dog back. I cried for an hour and spent the whole time hugging my Labrador. Sad.

i am a big fat crybaby too - everything makes me cry, both happy and sad tears. i've cried in weepie movies, and even animated stuff like shrek and finding nemo! even over a life insurance commercial (young widow and her small child having to move out of their home after hubby dies) *sob*

Oh I saw that advert!!!!! It really choked me up.
I think it's a good thing to be able to cry like that, you always feel better afterwards.

sooo sad wasn't it! yes, it's very cathartic to get it all out. however, i've been (unfairly) accused by loved ones for being quite heartless & impassive when it comes to, say, the evening news, or real-life tragedies. but i think perhaps it's just easier to cry over stuff that doesn't really matter, whereas if we cried over the real stuff we'd never get on with life...!

Very true! There is so much sadness and injustice in the world that you have to harden yourself to it sometimes.

Me......big fat cry baby too(I cried over the commercials advertising Dr Green Dying on ER-very sad). Not romantic but the last 1/2 hour of the Green Mile had me in tears that only my then boyfriend could console. But romantic movie wise....When a Man Loves a Woman at the end when Meg Ryan talking at her 6 month AA meeting and says
"I shut him out because I knew if he ever really saw who I was inside, that he wouldn't love me. And we're separated now, he's moved away, and it was so hard not to beg him to stay. And I don't know if I'm going to get a second chance but I have to believe. That I deserve one. Because we all do" And then at the end....there he is! mmmmm Andy Garcia.....

WARNING - SPOILERS AHEAD - do not read if you don't want to know the plots of these movies!
out of africa: when she (meryl streep) is told by her ex-husband that her lover (robert redford) has died. when she begs on her knees with the new governor for land for her african workers - and the governor's wife gives her word. when she says good-bye to her faithful manservant.
as good as it gets: when helent hunt tries to explain to her mother why it's so hard to accept jack nicholson's generosity, and how angry she feels when she sees happy couples in the street, because she can't remember the last time she felt that way. when o.c.d./homophobic jack nicholson takes in gay, homeless artist greg kinnear...and shows him his new room in his apartment.

oh..as good as it gets...i remeber when Jack Nicholson say "You make me want to be a better person"...so touching.

one of my favorite quotes from that film: when she says "when the gods want to punish you, they answer your prayers..."
...after he tells he he'd like to "keep a few things at her place", thereby finally making a commitment of sorts...*siiiiiiiigh!*
oh no now have gone all mushy, will be useless today...tgif!

"Empire of the Sun"..... when the boy gets reunited with his parents after the War ..... watched the move 20 plus times.....always gets me that one...

Oh my god!!!!! How could I have forgot those 2 movies: Out of Africa and Empire Under the Sun.
I burst into uncontrollable tears when I hear the sound tracks. I have seen both movies countless times and I still sob my heart out.

Sorry 'Empire of the Sun'. Watched it a few weeks ago and realised that the young boy was Christian Bale. One talented and very hot man.

definitely...the music alone from out of africa, platoon, and [blushing violently now] somewhere in time can reduce me to a puddle of tears.
some gut-wrenching weepie scenes from male-themed movies: anybody remember gallipoli (with a very young very yummy mel gibson...mmmmmmmmm)? and gladiator. and deerhunter.
...which reminds me of one of my favorite all time greats: thelma and louise...*SOB!*

Yummy, Christian Bale was very good looking when he was in "Empire of the sun" and now...he is yum yumm...
Oh i remembered i watched the last scene of "Deer Hunter" when Christopher Walken pull the trigger and "Themla and Louise" when they drive all the way out...I could not talk for a few hours cos the feeling was so real, and i was so upset for it.

rendering the viewer stunned/in tears/speechless...truly the mark of a satisfying movie.
lulu, this is a great thread - free therapy for me! it's been a long week, and i feel much less stressed out now, ready for the weekend ;-)
ok last weepie: a small movie called "losing isaiah" - about adoption. jessica lange, a younger halle berry. even the towering giant of a man sitting in the theater next to me and my mom and sister, was sobbing violently

I recently watched "The March of the Penguins". I feel ashame of being a human nowadays. Look at those penguins, they are just simple animals but their love to their kids are so strong, so great and they do anything to give born, to raise up their little ones and how they loved each other...
Look at us now, a lot of human seems selfish and just want to have fun, we all like working against the nature cos we are too mean....:((

Agree, happened to watch Ghost agin last night, the tears were well and truly flowing at the end, and to voice of reason, I love Gallipolli (Mel Gibson was just gorgeous then), but it still makes me cry no matter how many times I watch it.

Anybody cries when watching titanic , when jack freezed to death and rose have to let him go...
Please support our advertisers:
No Titanic gets on my t!ts.
Not sure which is most annoying: Kate Winslet, Leonardo Decapitated or Celine Dion.
Lulu - agree that Christian Bale is lovely but you do realise he was only a kid when he made Empire Of The Sun. Probably a bit worrying that you fancied him in that film.

vulvic, i had the same reaction to titanic...nada! zip! nothing! i didn't even finish it. and let's not even get started on that "song"...i shudder just thinking about it. i could not get into the story, and leonardo di caprio never ever grew on me - can't remember the last time i liked him in a role (except maybe when he was very young, i.e. in "this boy's life", and playing the young indiana jones, before he became just another hollywood celebrity, famous for fame's sake, rather than a truly talented actor)
miss p: terms of endearment is a classic weeper, watching it at different ages, i cried at different times - first as a daughter, and later as a mother. and sophie's choice, what a terrific film - have you read the book, it's even better (author william styron)...oh that reminds me, going to check my thread

My point exactly. Actors should stick to acting. It's when they try to cross over into singing and saving the world that things go awry!
For example Jane Fonda - never, ever try your hand at politics unless you are a......... politician. Ditto Ronald Reagan, Arnie etc..
Hilary Duff - who said you could sing???? Step away from the mic!

ooooohhhh and my favorite - Angelina Jolie.

Above all great movies... Angela's Ashes..eeeh. Read the book, saw the movie but just got on my nerves after a while as they were just constantly poor!!!! Titanic or should I say Shiiiiiitanic-did nothing for me-agree with above(who was more annoying Jack or Rose).
To Witley-good one "the Shiralee" and Galipoli (thought I was the only one to remember those ones.
How about The Hours with Nicole Kidman and Julianne Moore? I took my cousin to see that after she had a miscarriage not knowing what was in store and nearly freaked when Julianne Moore's character nearly committed suicide while pregnant! Oh well, good movie anyway!!

well that was a very sad movie...:((

I used to think that actors should stick to acting but I disagree now.
If Robin Williams stuck to comedy...need I say more?
Jaoqim Phoenix in the new Johnny Cash movie. I heard a couple of cuts and it sounded pretty darn good.
As for politics, Bono said it best (I'll paraphrase): "I have access to certain people becuase of my fame. My options are to to use it to get good seats in restaurants, sit on my butt and do nothing with it, or I can use it to achieve something good". I think he made the right choice. As for Angelina, she put her money where her mouth is, she adopted them and gave them a good home. Alot more than what Diana Spencer ever did.
Our problem with Ronald Reagan wasn't that he ran for office....it was that we voted for him.
Back to the thread; Anyone seen "The Best of the Best" where he lets off the guy who killed his brother and the guy comes back after the match and gave it closure? Come on, I know that some of you action flick couch potatoes were balling.

Hey JCPD, was 'The sisterhood of the travelling pantaloons' good? I saw the cover and thought it would be another of those irritating teen-angst movies. Think I will rent it.
Actually, what makes me cry is looking at the New Releases in Movieland and realising that most of the films on display are meant for a much younger audience. Saddening and irritating at the same time, lol.

Agree that Nicole's voice in Moulin rouge is a complete shocker. But while we're on the Kate Winslet thing, what abut Neverland?
When peter pan takes flight in the play? when they do the play for kate at home and the curtain opens up at the end? Always makes my cry those scenes...
