Plagiarising blogs for emails

Hope it's OK that I post this here. I want to know some input as to why this friend of mine does such things.

I got to know her from a friend of a friend last year. While I wouldn't say that I am close to her, but we have had dinner several times and shared confidences.

I've always felt that she was a 'lost' person, unsure of what she wanted to do in life, lacking good friends and has probably, a self esteem issue. She is a nice girl, and so I thought that I would be friends with her.

Anyway, last month she went for a trip abroad to visit some relatives. I was the first time she sent me, and some friends 'emails' about her activities, some pictures etc. The thing that struck me as odd was the fact that her emails were extremely well written, kinda like essay style or blog style. In person she does not speak very good English and I thought that while it was not impossible to still be able to write well, it was quite surprising.

Yesterday I received the 3rd 'email' from her, talking about her experience taking the train in the city.Again, astonishingly well written. So, I took a line out of the email and googled it----the whole email actually came from a guy's travel blog written a few years ago.

So I looked back at the 2nd witty email I received in which she accounted her one night stand ( I was initially quite surprised that she felt comfortable enough to let me know such intimate details about herself). Guess what..it was from someone else's blog, with just the names changed. So all those things never actually happened!

Why would she do that??

Well, I do like her as she is actually a nice person. I am wondering how to approach this issue without embarassing her.

Seems like she is craving to fit in and impress. Perhaps you could send her feelers...comment on how great her written english is and that you never expected it be like that. I don't see any use confronting her. If you do care about her then you could slowly influence her into thinking that good friends care about who you truly are.
