There used to be a company called Whirlwind Dates in HK but I think they may have closed down now. But no loss to you Pauline - I went to one of their parties with a pretty open mind and let me tell you, the folk there were fuuugly!
Shaq: Speed dating evolved from the idea that you make up your mind as to whether or not you want to see someone again within three minutes of meeting them. The organiser of a speed dating night will get equal numbers of men and women in a room, set everyone up in a pair and let them talk for three minutes. At the end of the 3 mins all the men (or all the women) must move on to the next potential and so on until every man has talked to every woman for 3 mins. Then they tell the organiser which person they'd want to see again. If that person felt the same way, the organisers will set you up.

Thanks for the detailed description. I better find one of those and check it out ..... Hmm! Perhaps that will help curtailing this period of loneliness. Loneliness can kill ... and I'm too young to die :)).

I heard that some of them gather up at the Lobby Lounge of Kowloon Shangri-la on Fridays. So you might wanna check it out!
(well, u can see from a distance if those folks are to your liking or not!)

Shaq - I think Evohe was making a joke about the kind of conversation one might overhear at said speed dating event.
Personally I prefer the old fashioned way of meeting a potential partner - introduced through mutual friends or at a party.

Vulvic - I agree; the old fashion way is the best. Indeed, partner via a friend, for instance, behaves well most of the time. So, the old-style rules.

Old school dating is definately the way to go IMHO. That said, many people do meet and make relationships through t'internet.
JC - I hear ya about the friends. I have a few like that too! Although they prolly say the same thing about me, lol!

WhirlWindDate hasn't closed down!
Check out www.whirlwinddate.com if you're interested and live in HK.
They have an event on December 30th.

I met a girl in a youth hostel-she was an accountant working for PWC in London, I think. Not bad looking-see not all mingers.
Said she went speed dating and hooked up with 3 guys. Since she was crazy over Japanese food, she had Japanese cuisine for her first 3 dates.
She later narrowed it down to the Singaporean guy. Not sure what happened after that.
