Just curious, are there any events or clubs to join to meet westnern guys? I'm not into the clubbing scene or one night stay stuff. And I don't have much faith in the personal ads section here. Appreciate if someone can give me hints.
I always think it would be nice for AsiaXpat to organize regular activities in HK for east meeting west, more interactive and fun! Not necessary in large-scale like party in Edge, much prefer some scale like 20-50ppl. Then will feel like a private party easier to chat with everyone.

First of all, no bias anymore about WESTERNERS PLEASE although this site is called asiaxpat.. :) What's wrong with all the Asian guys? Pity for these women as their destiny/ furture is purely based on the other half's ethnics!! It is no longer based on his character, whether is compatible anymore..
Alright, I am here is not just bullying you so let me give you advices about the events/ clubs. I can think of is some Chambers of Commerce which segmented by nationality? Hong Kong Football Club? or Foreign Correspondent's Club?
The expats been established in HK for more than 100 years yet it used to British colonial and hence don't see it has an urge to organise an east meet west community precisely.
Good luck with the expat hunting. Mamma Mia!!

It's not that I have bias to rrace. Just since my first bf, I am always dating westerners. I feel comfortable with them and their culture. Never date any asians.
Just like some people prefer Japanese cuisine, some like Thai, some like Italian, some like German food. No reason, just you like it.

as sapect says, it's always good to have a sampler before deciding which cultural food you perferr.... hklady06 how about OBC then? Fusion isn't always bad.

So you are not new to this dating western guys scene hklady.. Why not stick to where you met all your exes? Or was that LKF which you find no longer your cuppa tea now?

I don't agree to the note from "aspect" that I'm missing 99.9999% of the world. Don't forget that there are so many different countries and so the nationalities for the west, ie. American, Kiwi, Aussi, German, Brit, Italian, Swedish, Russian, etc. So at most you can only see I prefer western cuisines instead of asian at this stage. Of course I wouldn't say I won't consider asian guys if happens one day there is a really nice asian guy come to me.
Respond to "MC JUNG", I only got 3 bfs before, which happened to be all westerners. Not really a way or channel to got to catch them. Just something like a passive mode fairy tale that they popped out somewhere I were and chatted up and got to know each other. You know this kind of sweet lucky thing can't happen all the time immediately. That's why I want to be more proactive, find some channels to meet more people, instead of falling in love immediately. Better to meet them as friends and see what leads to.

Welp, lest i sound like a broken record... i know all of my suggestions are related to exercise and the outdoors, but here is a good one:
There are about 5 running/walking groups called Hash House Harriers. Before you go jumping to conclusions about the name, read this:
http://www.wanchaih3.com/hashroots.htm
Hash House Harriers are a group of runners/walkers who meet usually once a week and follow a trail set in handfuls of flour and chalk arrows. The paths go in and around the island and change every week. Depending on the group and location, there are usually 20-50 people at each event. Following the event, there is always beer and food for those who want to stay.
Its a GREAT way to get some exercise, meet new people and see parts of HK you might never find on your own!
Quotes from the hash history:
"Am I fit enough?" you might ask. Well, like most hashes, WH3 has its share of skinny "watch clickers" who like to talk about their "10K times", but there are also the rotund and the walkers among the group so you can just take your own time. The age group ranges from kids up to septuagenarians and the sexes are usually even in numbers. Generally the trails are set so that the faint runners get back in about 40 minutes with the last walker being back in about 1 hour 15 minutes
Although we don't advertise it as a dating club, there have been over 30 marriages between people who met on the Wanchai Hash since it began - so you can guess that there is more to this than simple exercise and beer drinking.
Saturday is the once a month Free China hash -

Sunday is the weekly Wanchai Hash - http://www.wanchaih3.com/nexthash.htm

>> cybersproket, thank you. Finally someone really answered my questions properly, instead of questioning why I only date westerners.

hklady - you are very welcome. I think your dating preferences are you own... no one can account for taste. If you prefer westerners, so be it.
Best of luck to you... hope to see you on one of the hash runs this weekend!
Cheers.

>> cybersprocket. I wanted to join the hash runs. But you know I'm new to it and no friends wanna to go with me. I sent an email to the Hash club, not the email can't get through but returned with error. Can you tell me more about the hashing and the hash club? How to get started as a new comer alone by myself?

HKlady,
the hash group is very social. you can always come alone, no worries.
For a typical hash run, come dressed in your running/walking clothes. Remember suncreen and a hat if it's hot and sunny. You'll also want a change of clothes for after and a towel to clean up. Normally we provide water, but you may want to bring a small pack to carry the water in... up to you.
I'm going to do the wanchai hash tomorrow at 4:00pm, so if you, or anyone else would like to join, send me a PM and we can arrange to go together.
Cheers!

Cybersprocket, I have hear this kind of running/walk club before but not aware they have one in HK as well. My friend and I both interested in Hiking (not running tho).
so as the web-site says there's an other events next week. Is 'location' means meet up point?? do we just show up?? pls advice. thanks

Wonderfulday - There are actually 10 active hash groups around the HK area... including the T8 hash that only runs on days that typhoon warning level 8 is hoisted. (yes we are crazy!)
You can find links to all of the HK hash groups here: http://home.netvigator.com/~hasher/
Most of the groups run every week, usually at a different location each time. Just check the website and go to the location specified. You don't have to sign up or call in advance. Newcomers are always welcome! If you are confused about the location, you can always email and ask questions.
For the weekday evening runs, you should always bring a flashlight (torch) and it's usually dark during the run, and they often go on trails where it's not well lit.
Good luck, hope to see you on the trail soon!
