Erm, if you wanna be a bigamist, sure. But where's the fire? Can't you wait until your divorce comes through?

I am already divorced- for 12 years, I thought I had to have a copy of the final decree- I don't have one with me,

I am trying to get the certified copy sent from the states but i did hear that it wasn't necessary to have one, does anyone know if it is true?

Hi. To get married in HK you will need to register (or give notice) of your intention to do so. Check the immigration website for further info on this. If you are divorced, one of the documents that you will need to produce for the purpose of giving notice is a certified copy of your decree absolute. You cannot give notice and, therefore, get married in HK if you do not produce this. If you do not have the sealed decree absolute (which it seems you don't), it is usually pretty straighforward to get a certified copy if you are a party to the proceedings (which you are!). You need to write to the relevant registry of the Court (presumably the Family Court in the US but you would need to check which Court granted your divorce) and ask for a ceritifed copy, which they will send to you. Good luck!

Yeah, and I would pay whatever extra it costs for them to Fed Ex that shizz if you are in a hurry, knowwhatimsayin? Good luck. (Bummer on losing the document though, I hear ya, 12 years ago is a long time, but anything else I say would be that whole "hindsight" advice thing, so wont bother, lol)

how do you give evidence that you have never been married, do we need our birth certificates? what is a vital information certificate?

Well, you have been married, but you have been divorced. So you have to show that you are divorced and hence not married. Your marital status will be on that. Right?

YEAH, BUT WHY DO I need to give proof of age like a birth certificate when I have my passport, this is going to cost a fortune to fed ex all that stuff here

Wow, they really need your birth cetrificate? How bout you get a scanned copy over? You could probably use that and then say you will produce the original at a later date when it gets her.

When you get divorced, (unless you're eloping with a 3rd person), you never think " I'll need to keep a copy of the decree in a safe place for when I remarry"

good luck with the paperwork.
