How does guilty feel?

My question to everyone who reads this thread- Have you ever done something that you feel horrible about yourself and you feel so much guilt inside. What did guilt do to your mind, body, and spirit?

I am currently in a situation where I was the person who had something done to them. I want to know what it feels like from the other side of the fence. When you were the one who did the wrong- HOW did you handle the feelings of being/acting badly? What did you do to help heal the problem you caused? Thank you in advance for your feedback. Peace.

P.S. Please understand I have made mistakes but I have never done anything that was to this extent of selfishness on my partner's part.

I guess I am the best person to answer this with my horrid fling.

I feel so bad for doing wrong to him( my better half in all sense of the word)...even though he does not suspect...that makes it more worse...he looks at me with such respect and love which I dont deserve.

One outcome of this has been that I love my man more...I respect him more and * it made me realise what a WONDERFUL thing I have with him which I would NEVER sabotage*.

I actually think that this has made me a better person since I have become more giving...and I would NEVER cheat again.

I have just one problem...the guilt...it is overbearing...especially since we plan to get married soon.

I sincerely hope things will work out for you and I suggest that you move on if your partner keepson hurting you and cheating on you...in this case apparently he/she does not feel any guilt by doing whatever that he/she is doing...does not care about you.

They say you don't know what you have until it is gone.

I also think that if we nearly loose it we alos appreciate what we have.

Sometimes we feel shame, guilt, regret, also a form of grief.

Unfortuantley my mother laid so many guilt trips on us kids, I don't ever feel guilt. I do however feel shame, remorse, regret etc.

Ive done something I feel so guilty about and its hard to deal with it. Esp when you care about the person who u've betrayed. i think if I could take time back id do it all differently. How did I handle it..I left, despite forgiveness from my partner.I still miss my partner and regret my actions but think they deserve better. The thing is that despite regreting my actions, I cant guarrantee I wont do it again and dont want to hurt that person again.

I've never cheated but I have done some not very nice things to people. Guilt feels like something is eating at you from the inside you. it consumes your every thought and makes you wish you could turn back the clock and make it never happen. Horrible feeling, really.

sounds like you need to forgive yourself.

Low self esteem is more destructive than guilt.

Guilt is such a heavy burden to be lugging around, and should be chucked out the window. We've all made mistakes and most, if not all of us, have experienced some form of guilt.

I would acknowledge the feeling, forgive myself and exert efort not to do the same thing again. Then move on. I think it is healthy and normal to experience negative feelings like hate, anger, remorse, etc. but not to wallow in them nor be consumed by them.

I read somewhere, and believe, that if guilt permeates the soul and there is no closure nor forgiveness of one's self, karma will step in and teach the lesson
