l will be getting married to my spouse who l love. but there is quite a discrepancy in our assets as my family have got a very successful buisness and he is not even currently working. What would a knowledgeable and intelligent person recommend l do, other than not marry ? setting up a trust, will, or prenuptial agreement, here in HKG.

Why would he rush into getting a job when he will acquire love and wealth married to you? Why are you rushing into the marriage when he needs to focus on getting employed and become financially stable before setting up home with you?

If you're worried about your fiance being after your assets, you shouldn't marry, whatever your gender, and regardless of whether your partner is employed and earns good money or unemployed and lazying about on the sofa all day. If his financial and employment status is bothering you now, beware, because marriage won't change what bothers you about him.
If you can't trust your partner with your assets, you can't trust him with your happily ever after.
